(SchoolPad)Chitkara International School, located in Chandigarh, is one of our oldest Schools using SchoolPad and it has always been a privilege working with them. Since our inception we have learnt so much from them in terms of involving and engaging Parents and a lot of our communication features have evolved with them.
We caught up with the Principal, Dr. Niyati Chitkara and the team at Chitkara International School and here’s what they had to say.
Briefly Introduce Chitkara International School to our audience
Chitkara International School (CIS) is the fruition of the dream of its founders to create great leaders who exude excellence. The school is a pioneering initiative in international education in Chandigarh. Since its inception, the focus has been on building a world-class school with an Indian mind, heart and soul that offers a blend of nationally and internationally acclaimed educational opportunities. The school is affiliated to CBSE and through its inquiry based curriculum and continuous comprehensive method of assessment; it has raised the bar of global and international education in the city.
Chitkara International School is a conscious attempt at evolving newer ways of learning and thinking, an attempt at going beyond structured schooling to inculcate the joyful freedom of inner growth. The school provides learning opportunities which appeal to children’s multiple intelligences and trigger in them a multiplicity of perspectives through an eclectic mix of activities, intellectual accomplishments, aesthetic appreciation and sporting success, and thus encourage them to participate fully in the richness of school life.
Describe an average day at Chitkara International School?
An average day at CIS is a blend of many multi dimensional learning activities which encourages children to bring out the best in themselves and, supports their all-round development through discovering the joys of learning, awakening and illuminating their intellects; and instilling abiding values in themselves.
Describe Chitkara International School’s vision and ways in which you are trying to achieve it?
Our vision is to Take a hand, open a mind, touch a heart and shape a future, and we aim at creating DNA of research scholars in varying fields that can further multiply and add value to the world. To embed this in every generation Z learner and create different DNA altogether and further multiplying it to serve the mankind is clearly the mission of our school.
If I ask you to share the one best thing about Chitkara International School, what would it be?
There are many but one of the biggest is that all the Chitkaraians are always open to new concepts, new developments, new ideas and researches. We are always ready to learn and implement new techniques in order to get the best out of us.
Do you see Technology as an enabler for Chitkara International School’s growth?
Technology is very useful and is an integral part of the education system these days. It helps in proper organisation and planning of processes. Communication between various stakeholders becomes efficient, diagnostic & scientific assessments and just in time feedback is made possible by technology. In classrooms, it helps in providing personalised learning. Our students are given various assignments throughout the session, but it is left to them how they want to undertake them. One may give a video presentation, one may give a live project or it could be in the form of a mind map/Flowchart. Technology has assisted us in giving freedom to the learner to choose the way he/she wishes to learn.
Can you please share with us some of the useful technology tools or services that are being used at Chitkara International School?
We extensively use technology tools like SchoolPad ERP system, Google Drive, Edmodo and iTunesU in our school on day to day basis. These tools have helped us tremendously in better functioning and also, efficiently imparting learning to our students. Using technology has also helped us in creating a better and stronger bond between all the stakeholders. We have also witnessed increased levels of participation and interest shown by the students in the learning processes.
One tip or suggestion about the use of technology in school education that you would like to share with our audience?
Do not become a slave to technology, use it and make it do things the way you want it to, when you want and where you want. It is a tool to assist you and not a replacement or a substitution.
A big thanks to the Principal and the complete team at Chitkara International School for taking the time out to answer these questions! To know more about Chitkara International School you can check out their website www.chitkaraschool.in
